The Project

The brief from the client was to provide an access scaffold to this elevation for brick repairs without any standards resting in the water or on the resident’s private balcony.

Our Contribution

Having earned HML’s trust on previous challenging projects, we were well‑placed to engineer another bespoke access solution.
Having previously worked with HML on other complex access projects, it was no surprise that they turned to us to provide the scaffolding for the project. Working with our scaffold design engineer, we came up with a bespoke solution where we would erect scaffold ‘gallow brackets’ fixed to the brickwork to support cantilevered alloy beams with the access scaffold erected off the beams. No scaffolding touched the water, the balcony or terra firma. We installed correx sheets to protect the resident’s balcony.

    Our Approach

Before any work began, we put resident safety, communication and thorough preparation at the forefront.
Before starting work on site, we advised the affected residents of our upcoming works and gave them details of what work we were going to do. We set up exclusion zones to cordon off the work area from residents and members of the public. We carried out extensive testing of brick ties to ensure that the brickwork would ‘support’ the scaffold. We had a boat in attendance in the water in case of any emergencies. The work was completed to the satisfaction of the client. We had no accidents/incidents during the contract.
