The re-development of the iconic BBC Studies in White City involved the de-cladding and demolition of the main buildings plus the demolition of the
drama and restaurant buildings.
The location of the site within a residential area and close to London Underground tube line presented particular problems to the demolition contractor McGee. All demolition works would have to be encapsulated within a scaffolding enclosure.
Our Contribution
A trusted partner on previous major demolitions, we were once again appointed by the McGee Group.
Having previously worked with the McGee Group on other large-scale demolition projects, it was no surprise that they turned to us to provide the scaffolding for the project. Working to a fast-paced demolition programme, we were able complete our works within the timescales set by the McGee Group. We successfully managed, resourced and erected approximately 22,000m² of independent access scaffolding plus numerous crashdecks, birdcages, gantries, staircases, etc.
Our Approach
By engaging early, we solved key programme issues and delivered the project on time and within budget.
An early appointment to the project and pro-active approach to working with clients, helped us to quickly understand the problems being faced by McGees/Mace and gave us the opportunity of providing engineered solutions. By understanding the client’s programme requirements, we were able to work with the client to achieve his targets. With a site team of up to 20 scaffolders and 2 senior site managers, the project was completed on time and within budget.
